Galleria
I went to the galleria with Henri 2 days ago, it was nice to have a break. I bought a teapot and a frame, both on sale (SCORE!)
Cancer is back
Daisy has cancer again.
I went to the vet over a week ago, there was an oedema where there had been cancer before. So I got shots for that and for hoping to prevent any beginning of cancer again too. On Monday I felt tumors on the other side of her breast, fortunately I had an appointment at the vet the day after. So on Tuesday next week it is time to operate out mammary gland 4&5 on the right side too (left side was done in October). I was allowed to attend the surgery, to it will be interesting to see but heartbreaking because it is Daisy.

Almost a week ago I got a chilling blanket and a pretty collar in the mail from mom! |
Homemade petfood
He wasn't negative about homemade food either, he just explained how it is important to actually understand what you are giving them, and that many people (incl. me) doesn't give them all that they need. A piece of meet will be missing some amino acids and other components.
I give Daisy chicken carcasses and try to give her liver, and mom has told me before that I should add egg shells etc. but until now I didn't understand how important it was and how it affected the body. I have been afraid to try the dog food packed in "sausages" because it says that it contains pork, so I asked him about it and he told me that all of the food has been processed before, so the pork meat has been processed under 60 degrees Celcius to remove all toxins.
Now that Daisy has cancer again she needs all the nutrients she can get, so I am going to start to make proper meals and try to check nutrient requirements etc.
MARS
Yesterday we went on a school trip to MARS, the top producer of pet food in Europe. It was a great trip but the morning didn't start out to well. I set the clock for 5.45 am the evening before, wake up 6.50 realizing it never rang and I should be outside of the school in 10 min. I fly up, run to the buss and at the same time calling the wrong person 10 times, before they answer and say I rang the wrong person. I finally get in touch with Henri and they wait for me.
The bus ride was about 1 h 15 min, I like roadtrips! At our arrival we got free candy and beverages and sat through an interesting seminar about pet food and the company. Then we walked through the wet food factory and then it was time for lunch. We got to take what ever we wanted and the company payed for it. Then went to a product showroom, where we got to feel, taste and see some of it, incl. their opponents products.
I was pleasantly surprised and happy to hear how he didn't talk down their competition, just explained a few differences about the products.

Daisy, my hero.
Daisy is one of the nicest dogs existing. She has been getting 3 shots every other day for a week and has not shrugged or given any intention of pain and it is not comfortable. She is a strong individual.
Tomorrow we are going back to the vet, but I don't think the procedure worked. Last week it was just some suspecting masses and the vet didn't know if it was just an inflammation or the beginning of cancer again. Now I feel actual lumps again, on both sides so I will ask for an x-ray or exploratory laparotomy tomorrow. Not that I have time, energy, money or spirit for this again but we have to fight if it is back.

Polar bear and Rhinoscopy
Yesterday during the anatomy lecture we had a guest lecturer whom was a specialist in surgical procedures, so he presented rhinoscopy and endoscopy. We then got to test rhinoscopy out on a dead dog head, it was so fun and interesting. We also got to try to give injections into Foramen infraorbitalis, I stayed with Ida after everyone had left and we gave injections in Foramina mentales and put cannulas in the base of the tongue. The best thing that happened was when Linn asked were they had got the speciment, she thought it had come from the zoo, and then everyone realized that she thought it had been a polar bear during the whole class! (The dog was white and furry)
Ida took some pics, I will steal then later and post them.

Storm + Daisy
The beginning of the storm the other day!
So freaking disgusting tick she had the other day...
She is back on meds... Anti-inflammatory, Antibiotics, homeopathic injection(spider venom or something fun)

Spider injection
Today we went to the vet again. He suspected that it was either an inflammation or just the start of developing cancer. So I got 3 different injections with me home to give her every other day for a week. One of them was a homeopathic injection with some kind of spider substance poison(he couldn't explain in english so I don't know more), so that is interesting but I can't find anything on the internet about it.

Pups, mosquitoes, immuno
Daisy was so cute this morning. She got a bit stressed over big dogs walking past this morning, and then 50m ahead of us walked 2 jack russel terriers so she got very stressed UNTIL she noticed that they were puppies. She went nuts and tried to play like crazy, but both the me and the girl were in a hurry to school, so maybe another time.
Now I am being eaten alive by mosquitoes, but I cannot close the windows because it will become boiling in here then.
Studying immunology at the moment, not very productively and now it is time for an evening walk with Daisy.

Riding
Today I test rode a horse. It was a real nice family who owned it, the horse was beautiful and nice but we didn't match personality wise, I like a horse who is a bit more motivated/hot. I wished it would of worked out, but also not; I would have less time for Daisy, it took me 45 min to walk there and I am on a budget at the moment!
Tonight me and Zoe (maybe some more people)are going to night at the museums in Warsaw, it will be great fun!

17th of May
Gratulerar med dagen Norskar! Congratulation with your day Norwegians!
Elin bought me this pretty bracelet in Norwegian colors when we went to the SGGW days exhibition. It is made from alpaca wool and supports the alpacas.
There were lots of animals, reptiles, people, beer, food, fun activities going on today at the school (we are off today). Kind of like an open house!

Sorry
Sorry for not putting up any pics lately but I don't have a camera and the ipad takes the suckiest pics ever! Camera will be next years buy, this year was the ipad, which I actually use every day. I recommend buying a Ipad or a tablet for school, it is easy to carry with you and great to work with.
17th of May
It is still hot here in Warsaw and Elin, who went in our class year 1, is here to visit! She now studies vet medicin in Norway, we all miss her a lot here.
Tomorrow is Norway's national day and we are celebrating it with breakfast at the dorms and then the Norwegians are going to the Embassy to have lunch, sing and meet the ambassador. Later there is a dinner at the Boathouse where there are games and celebrations for everyone who wants to buy a ticket. I went last year to the dinner, and it was great fun but I was late with buying ticket, on a budget and need to study and spend some time with Daisy. So I won't be joining them tomorrow.

Flasher thoughts
I think the flasher affected both Daisy and I more than I realized at first. I was walking the same way today and I just felt tense and uncomfortable, even though I know he wouldn't be there again. It is the thought of that he is not the only one, there are more like him out there and it actually isn't safe. One day walking home from a friend, when I do not have Daisy, someone might jump me or one of my friends and there won't be much to do other than struggle and scream. The world can be a scary place.

Daisy back to crazy
Daisy and I have gone a few steps back. She was in a perfect state of mind for about 3 weeks (1 before I left Sweden and then in Sweden) but now when we came back to Warsaw she took a step back and became a bit insecure. It was such a small problem so that was fixed in a few days. BUT since the flasher she seems to think I need protecting. So every time we meet dogs she doesn't like she goes back to almost the beginning of our training (not completely thank goodness). Now we are doing basic attention training again, yay...
key+elevator shaft= true
Woke up, put clothes on, out with Daisy, locks the door, drops key in elevator shaft, locked out of apartment for 5h, 2 of those walking around trying to find help because my phone is locked in the apartment.
That was the beggining of my day, yay!

I WANT A NEW DOG+ COLLAPSE
Hope no one in our class reads this because it is kind of a secret at the moment! I won't use names. I went to the shelter today to look at 2 dogs with my friend who was supposed to come, sign papers and pick up one of them today, but there were some problems. Anyway I fell in love with these 2:

http://www.psianiol.org.pl/adopcje?species=d&body_size=3&status=1&page=1&id=2550
The first dog is not a looker (It is extremely cute in real life though) and it was a bit shy (I am guessing former abuse from the looks of its behavior) but I just connected with it.
The second, oooh what a beauty, and its personality was so amazing, it was such a great dog. I cannot believe no one has adopted it yet, but I am guessing people want smaller dogs and etc...
If i didn't already have Daisy (who is content with being a loner-dog) I would defiantly have adopted one of them.
On the metro on the way home a woman collapses right in front of us, we think that people are going to the rescue but they are just bent over staring at her so me and X just jump for it and I try to put her in recovery position as we are taught from we were children, but fortunately she wakes up and we help her to the seats and X tries to give her water.

Flasher
On Friday Ida, Henri, Jennie and I had a girls night with drinks and games.
Yesterday I was out walking my usual evening walk when all of the sudden a naked man in flipflops comes walking out, smiles and poses proudly. I break out into laughter because I do not know how to react and I remember mom telling me something about laughing towards flashers. Daisy starts growling (thank god I have a good dog) and we keep walking while he walks away. On my way home I see a girl in my age walking towards that area, so I stop to warn her and I don't think she knows if I was telling the truth.
Today the good weather disappeared and the rest of the week will be rain and normal temperatures.
At the moment I am looking over, adding info and reading the seminar/presentation me and Henri are holding tomorrow.
Daisy is totally beat, we started the day with a long walk, took another long walk and then went for a 4 km run!

buuuurn
It is so crazy hot outside, a little too hot actually, but I shouldn't complain it is better than minus 30 degrees Celcius. I even burnt my shoulders today.
The exam I had on Monday I will fail because I did such a stupid mistake, so I will have to reread the course next year, so my summer will be learning the book in and out.

Hund gott and Canine connections
For those who live in Sweden:
My mother and father have a company called Hundgott which sells homemade dog candy, accessories and some raw dog food. It is too expensive to sell outside of Sweden, but maybe in a few years.
The candy they sell is dried lung, liver and chicken feet and necks.
The food is raw chicken, Vom og hundemat and apetite increasing powder.
All of the materials comes directly from the slaughter house, and if it is not made to candy directly it is frozen so it keeps fresh. There are no additives or preservatives.
For everyone:
They also run a kennel with standard schnauzers. This you can read about on the webpage (both in Swedish and English)
What I bought
The morning after I arrived, nice weather and Swedish breakfast! |
Wiiiih
Thunder and lightning at the moment, not too fun. Studying Animal nutrition, retake tomorrow, I hope with all of my heart that I pass it.
This morning it rained, during the day it was supersunny and hot and now it is thunder.

Planes!!
The flights have a new route, so now they fly right above my apartment, yay!
Ida and Henri are moving in the fall and they were trying to convince me to move to where they move, but I didn't want to move further away from school so I said no. Now they are looking in a very nice little area, close to school and since this spot is not under the airplanes all day I am considering it.

Awesome night
On Friday night I was at an old neighbors apartment with all of the other old neighbors It was so fun, I started laughing almost from the second I walk over the doorstep. We drank some, sang singstar and just were so silly. I really look forward to this summer!
When I was at Heaven 23 at Gothia towers I met an old acquaintance who I had taken care of her horses many years ago. It was real nice to see her again I became very happy, and she has asked me to come by the stable in the summer and maybe join as groom in a competition or two!

Small update
Today has been good, got up at 8.30 and took Daisy for a walk. It is about 20 degrees today so I ate breakfast on the balcony. I have studied some but it is hard to concentrate.
I bought a few things in Sweden, I'll take some pictures later and post.

Horrible flight
Daisy has a hard time getting used to not living without other dogs, it has gone 3 weeks since last. She is whiny and restless most of the time.
Yesterdays trip to Warsaw really tested my temper. It started out with a delay at Landvetter airport, missed my connecting flight in Amsterdam, when I got off they were no signs where we should go, I finally found a counter and after almost breaking down they help me, not that it actually helped I just found out that I can't see my dog until I land in Warsaw (7 ½h from then). I had to go out of Schipol airport and check-in, go through security check where they throughout some of my food just because they didn't know what it was. Then many small problems occured, mostly because of the stress and mood. Finally I got a hold of nice personel and they told be that Daisy had won over everyone at the dogkennel and that she was fine.
I get on the plane, read my book, get some tea and a sandwich, I am in the front of the plane so the cart has is blocking the way to the bathroom and I get the feeling that I am going to be sick. So I sit, the rest of the flight, just thinking "Do not puke".
Finally we land at 23.00 (If the trip would have been normal one we would have landed at 16), but I do not get my dog for another 40min. I was in luck with the taxi, the first one I met was okay with dogs!
