Half-marathon

Started out this Sunday with a half-marathon. The last 4 km were horrible, but we fought through it! I am sunburned in my face and my legs/feet are killing me. I am laying in bed, Daisy is not complaining, and I will soon be making a foot bath and dinner. After the run we went to eat at Brooklyn burger, nom nom.
Halfway run shot! 11 km done, 10 left!

Yesterday we went for a walk with the dogs, eat a good breakfast, studied for hours, went to a birthday party for 1h. I ensure there was no drinking and I was home early.

Not much new has happened this week. I have been studying like crazy. Daisy had some bad/strange values in her urine test but she has no clinical signs so nothing is going to be done.
We had a few amazing walks this week!

Veterinary diagnostics

Vet diagnostics class, we did a blood smear (repeat to remember). The rbc where in in starshape because there had been too little blood collected into the vial and the intracellular fluid was being drawn out. There was also a lot of basophils, neutrophils and eosinophils intending allergy.

Voff voff

I just have to make a small post for recommending Hundgott's dog candy.
The lung and liver are great motivators, even for dogs who do not like food or candy much, but the chicken feet and especially necks are AMAZING. I have never seen Daisy so crazy motivated as when I bring out one of them, she goes nuts. Because you cannot really break the neck I use it as a snack, but before I give it to her I make her do lots of tricks and she does everything without blinking haha.

This weekends fun.

It has been amazing weather for the last days, but now it is getting a bit colder again. It feels good though to get a taste of spring!
On Friday I got up early in the morning went for a walk with Daisy, did an intense 15 min workout, school, sat in the sun relaxing with friends, took a long walk in the heat, interval-training with Ida and Henri, and later in the evening a party at a classmates house.
On Saturday Jessica and I went riding. The horse I was supposed to ride had an infected wound on the inside of its hind limb so I switched horse. We did some jumping and when we were done took a walk in the forest, it was a great day.
Today the girls and I went in to town to watch a flashmob and eat breakfast. It was the worst flashmob ever, they were dancing before it was supposed to start, the pulled out an extension cord and computer speakers, they were ca 40 min late, and it lasted 20 seconds... We all got frustrated and went for a nice breakfast instead.

Today I arrived an hour early to school. So there was a lot of running, playing and working at the field outside the school clinic.
I had to take some blood (Daisy) before next week when she is supposed to be sedated and clean her teeth+remove the hyperplasia of her gums. So I asked if I could do it myself, and of course it was fine. It is my 2nd (3rd) time taking blood. Daisy has dark skin and a lot of fur, but I hit the vein on directly without shaving. So I am proud of myself! There was a lot of blood on my hands and seeping onto her fur afterwards though.

Polka has an obsession my things, I can't even put my bag on the floor without her stealing something in it.
On Tuesday we went to "soup-tuesday" at Susanna, all of the dogs played and we all gossiped.

Stable

Rode this crazy little bastard on Sunday. He was scared of everything, but after a while he calmed down and everything went good.

Reversed sneezing

During our lecture we had talked about reversed sneezing and how it to the owner could look like the dog is dying. It is common in small dogs. I have realized that it is what my parents dog Sookie does. It is not dangerous, it is just a way of the dogs to clear their nasal airways.

After our lab in dermatology the dog started doing just this. We thought he couldn't breath and no one knew what to do, the teacher then comes out and says "That is reversed sneezing!!".

I didn't get a video of when he was doing it really dramatically but here is a little taste.

Video update from the last couple of weeks!
HAPPY DAYS
International women's day.
Daisy being bored.

Cavaliada

Today Hela and I went to Cavaliada. It was really nice hanging out with her again and doing something other than studying. We only had time to watch 2 classes though; 145 final and childrens/junior jumping final. The junior jumping was hilarious but very impressive. The ponies were superfast and made really sharp turns, and the children on then had amazing balance.

It is not as big of a show as Gothenburg horse show, but it was a nice well arranged one.

It has been amazing weather this week, but sadly enough it is becoming rainy and colder again.
After sitting 24/7 with the seminar (we got a 5!) it was really nice just relaxing with walks in the nice weather. It has been up to 19 degrees in the sun.
The first coffe-break on the balcony this year. So cosy!

USG

During Diagnostic Imaging lab we learnt how to do an USG on the metacarpal bone on the equine leg. We all got to try it out. It was fun getting a feel for what we will be doing in the future.

Neurology

Learning how to make a neurological examination during vet diagnostic lab.

The dogs were very tired after 4h of being poked, lifted and pushed on. Last hour they just slept while we tested their reflexes.

LA LA LA
I am so exhausteeeed.
Have been sitting since Friday, or was it Thursday, with this freaking seminar. Still not close to finished and we NEED to be done by tonight, so we can learn it by heart tomorrow. I haven't had any rest, either I have been non-stop studying or in school (also studying). I have had the time for a few walks with Daisy, like this morning we started 9, so I went for 1h walk at 7.40.

Useless post.
Just wanted to update you on how useless my brain is right now. It is like an octopus.

HANDHUG.

2 years!

Today is Daisy's and my 2 year anniversary. It is also the anniversary of us moving in to the apartment!

It is fun to see that the dog I would never think to love or live with, I can no longer live without. It has been such a struggle these last 2 years, but neither of us has ever been as happy as we are together. Sounds cheesy, talking about a dog like that, but she truly saved my live down here and I hers (literally; from cancer).
